The most Inspiring movie I've seen in years.

WAR ROOM is the fifth film from Alex and Stephen Kendrick and is their best film to date.
The Kendrick Brothers once again tackle the subject of marriage, but this movie is more than about a struggling marriage. It's about having a relationship with Jesus Christ. It's about praying to GOD, about seeking GOD and letting him steer you through the ups and downs of life. It's about parenting, from a mother's standpoint and then, from a father's standpoint. It's about making wrong choices and turning to GOD to make the right choices. It's also about mentoring another person.
This is where I talk about the strongest character the Kendrick Brothers have ever created-Miss Clara, played flawlessly by Karen Abercrombie. This woman needs an Oscar. her performance is the heart and soul of WAR ROOM. Take her out and you have a flat, sermon heavy movie. Miss Clara is more than a Jesus loving, prayer seeking, evangelical old lady. Over the coarse of two hours, we get the pieces of Miss Clara's life, one that is not perfect. With God's guidance, Miss Clara mentors Real Estate agent Elizabeth Jordan, who has marriage problems, bad breath and sticky feet and struggles like me, to be a parent to her pre-teen daughter. She has fallen out of love with her controlling husband, who is falling apart in his life as well. Meet Tony Jordan, a physically fit man, who can make doing pull ups look easy and jump rope impressively. He's a pharmaceutical salesman, at the top of his game. He seems to have it all. But when we get a deeper look, we learn that is not the case.
It's hard to imagine life for the Jordans without Miss Clara. And it's hard to image a life for Miss Clara without Jesus Christ. Miss Clara doesn't keep Jesus to herself. She shares her love for Christ with Elizabeth and once that happens, everything changes. Good and Bad.
The Kendrick Brothers have made a movie that has many dimensions to it, like I hinted at earlier in this review. There is much going on. One fault I have with the movie is that it goes on about 10 minutes too long. There are many plot threads to tighten. I get that. But in the end, tying up loose ends drug on a little too long. The film also boasts the acting debut of author Beth Moore. She doesn't add anything to the movie. Her character could have been left out completely.
With those two negatives aside, WAR ROOM is one of the best "Christian" movies ever made.
It's been a long, long time that a film gave me goose bumps and inspired me to talk to God more. Way more. And seek him in every second of my day.
I give WAR ROOM an A.
