MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE-FALLOUT marks the sixth film in the MI franchise. This film series seems to get better with every film. This very well could be the best in the series, but only time will tell for me.
Say what you will about Tom Cruise. You cannot argure the fact that Cruise can sell an action movie better than his action movie counterparts like Stallone and Schwartzenegger. FALLOUT is yet another example of Cruise gathering the most talented filmmakers he can find and entertain the socks off moviegoing audiences.
FALLOUT picks the plot threads from the previous two M:I films and tells another story of bad guys wanting to end the world with a nuclear threat. We've seen it all before. Yet, to my amazement, this film makes everything that's been done before seem like a freshly baked loaf of bread. The thrills and chills, twists and turns have never been this engaging or down right entertaining. Writer/Director Christopher McQuarrie is the only director in the M:I film series to return for a second stab at directing. Not only does he top his previous work on ROGUE NATION(2015) but I really thinks he has made the best film of the series. Parts of the film evoke the works of two film masters-Stanley Kubrick and Christopher Nolan. McQuarrie's work here is that good.
The cast does an excellent job of bring this edge of your seat action thriller to life. Tom Cruise headlines the cast and does some of his best work here as Ethan Hunt. Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson return to offer their superb supporting performances. They are joined this time by Henry Cavill. You might know him from playing Superman in the latest DC Comics films. He gives a standout, scene stealing performance as CIA agent/ assasin August Walker. His onscreen chemistry with Cruise is worth the price of admission. These two do great work together.
The action set pieces created here are jaw dropping and eye popping. There is a fight scene in a bathroom that has to be the greatest bathroom fight scene in all of film history. It's that amazing. I saw FALLOUT in the IMAX format. You owe it to yourself to check this one out in IMAX. The last 30 minutes of the film feature sequences shot entirely in the IMAX format and is just amazing.
In a summer filled with sequels, MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE-FALLOUT is one of those rare, rare sequels that tops it previous entries of the series. I give the film a solid A. Check it out now on the BIG screen.
