Movie Review: Jurassic World:Fallen Kingdom (Q&A Edition)

It's been three years since we got a Jurassic Park sequel. Now it's time to return to Isla Nuebla for another terrifying (hopefully) visit with those genetically recreated dinosaurs.

Question #1: What sequel does this make? This is the fifth film in Jurassic Park series and is a direct sequel to Jurassic World.

Question #2: Is Chris Pratt in this or was he too busy playing Star Lord in the Marvel movies to make it back for this one? Yes, Chris Pratt is back as velociraptor wrangler, Owen Grady. After being guilt-tripped into joining his on again, off again girlfriend, Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard, who is also back) on a return trip to the island of Dinosaurs to help another Billionaire investor rescue the dinosaurs when an erupting volcano (that wasn't in any of the other movies) threatens to make the dinos extinct.

Question #3: Is it really necessary to have another sequel? Depends on if you are a fan of the previous 4 films, which I am. Anytime Hollywood has a chance to make more money, you can believe that the powers that be will find a way to bring anything back for another cash grabbing event.

Question #4: Will this film scare my child? It depends on the child and what films of this nature he or she has been exposed to. If it's little Johnny's first time to see a Jurassic Park film, then like any good parent, you might want to it out for yourself before exposing the child to potential nightmares. If this isn't his first rodeo, then he will be fine. As for little Susie....

Question #5: Does this film still have the thrills and chills of the previous films? Yes. Actually, I found FALLEN KINGDOM to be a step up from JURASSIC WORLD. Even though the previous one was good at going through the motions, I didn't feel there was enough suspense for a movie about dinosaurs running amok in a park. With FALLEN KINGDOM, the thrills and chills are back. You find yourself rooting for Owen, Claire and new likable characters and our favorite dinosaurs from the previous movies. There are bad guys on hand that you can't wait to become dino food.

Question #6: Is this film worth running out on opening weekend to see in an overcrowded movie theater? Yes, especially if you loved the previous four films. The film is Rated PG-13 for dinosaur violence and intense action sequences. That means issue caution with Little Jonny and Little Susie.
I give JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM an entertaining but very predictable B.
