Movie Review: BLACK PANTHER

BLACK PANTHER accomplishes that rare feat most movies seldom achieve-transporting the viewer to a place he or she has never been before, meeting fully developed and realized characters that are larger than life. Seeing Wakanda-T'Challa's home/kingdom come to life is like visiting the Land of Oz for the first time. It's magical, breathtaking and a visual wonder to behold.
Then there are the people of Wakanda. Noble, heroic, beautiful, fierce, wise and protective of their homeland. Chadwick Boseman plays the title character, also know as T'Challa, king of Wakanda. Boseman's performance is one that evokes a strength and wisdom that we haven't seen from Super Heroes in quite sometime. You could easily listen to this man and follow him in to battle wholeheartedly. He is surrounded by people as strong and wise as himself. Featuring Danai Gurira as Okoye, T'Challa's right hand woamn/bodyguard who is loyal to a fault even though she states that she is loyal to the throne. Who in their right mind would mess with this woman? Not me. Also, Lupita Nyong'o is T'challa's love interest, Nakia; Angela Bassett as his mother; Martin Freeman, reprising his role from CAPTAIN AMERICA:CIVIL WAR as Agent Everett Ross as well as Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue. All are wonderful here. Let me turn my focus to the villain-Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger. He is, in my opinion, the best Marvel Villain since Loki (in The Avengers/Thor films). Jordan's Killmonger is a fully realized villain who you sympathize with. His story is a sad tale that turns vengeful. He is fierce and unapologetic for his actions.
Writer/Director Ryan Coogler (Creed) gives us a film that we have yet to see in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. A land that posses a beauty rarely seen in film with heroes and heroines that are fully developed and a plot that evokes Shakespeare's best plays.
I could go on and on about this highly entertaining movie. This review just scratches the surface of how great this film is to me. It's a rare cinematic achievement. See BLACK PANTHER on the BIG SCREEN, the way it's meant to be seen. You won't regret it.
I give BLACK PANTHER an A+.
