Movie Review: COCO-One of my favorite films of 2017.

  Disney/Pixar's Animated Film COCO is easily one of the best films I've seen in 2017. It has more heart, passion, and emotion than any other film that I've seen this year. Without getting into great detail, COCO tells the story of a boy named Miguel. He has to keep his passion for music a secret from his family due to his family's shame toward his Great, Great Grandfather, who abandoned his family for a life as a musician and was never heard from again. The story is centered around the Hispanic Holiday The Day of The Dead which honors the dead. All Miguel wants to do his freely play his music. On The Day of The Dead, Miguel magically journeys to The Land of The Dead in search of his Great Great Grandfather Ernesto de la Cruz, a legendary musician. What unfolds is a funny, endearing musical journey of self-discovery and family heritage. If you don't get goosebumps and a tear in your eye watching this film, I think you belong in the Land of the Dead.
    COCO is beautifully animated so much so that I regretted not seeing this in 3D. The colors really stand out in grand fashion. A sequence where Miguel sees the Land of the Dead for the first time is worth the price of admission. The music of COCO is also a huge part of the story. It contains songs that made me want to sing along with, including the song Remember Me, destined to be nominated for an Oscar.
  COCO is filled laughter and surprises that I didn't see coming. It is one the most memorable and unforgettable films about family that I've seen in years. I give COCO a solid A. It is also one of my favorite Pixar films since TOY STORY 3. I'm still trying to figure out why it took me until after Christmas to see this wonderful film.

   Movies like DADDY'S HOME 2 are made for two things- to entertain and to make people laugh. That is exactly what this sequel to the hit DADDY'S HOME succeeds in doing. Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg return as Brad and Dusty, co-dad's to Sara's(Linda Cardellini) two children, as well as much of the original cast. To recap the first one, Brad (Ferrell) is the step-dad to Sara's(Cardellini) two children who finds himself competing with the real Dad, Dusty(Walhberg) for the title of Dad.   With DADDY's HOME 2, we get the Grandfathers added to the mix. Mel Gibson as Dusty's Dad, Kurt and John Lithgow as Brad's Dad, Don. Gibson is stunt casting while Lithgow's performance is indicative of his award-winning career. Lithgow plays a comedic role in dramatic fashion. It could be the other way around as well. Movie Review-DESPICABLE ME DESPICABLE ME is about a villain named Gru (voiced by Steve Carell ), who sets out to steal the moon. You might ask why he would do this. Basically for the attention from his verbally abusive mother,the world and competition from a rival villain named Vector. When Gru sees three orphan girls selling Girl Scout cookies to Vector, he devises a plan to use the girls to get closer to Vector. (Yes, I'm leaving out plot details. I'm not one to give every single detail of the movie.) Movie Review: DARKEST HOUR

      DARKEST HOUR is a film that transports the viewer to another time and place in extraordinary fashion, combining some very talented artists of filmmaking to create something unique and enthralling for today's moviegoer.    Gary Oldman gives the performance of his career as Winston  Churchill, a man who led his country out of one of it's darkest times with his wisdom and courage, never backing down from a difficult challenge. Oldman disappears into the role of Churchill, convincing the viewer that he or she is watching a historic figure come to life. Oldman's performance, Joe Wright's direction, the production design by Sarah Greenwood and the makeup by Kazuhino Tsuji, David Malinowski, and  Lucy Sibbick's combined talents transport the viewer to 1940's England to view history in the making.
